Good news for International Driving License holders, every state will now have the same process for applying for an International Driving Permit. Earlier, each state followed its own pattern for issuing IDPs, including the structure, color, etc. of the DL(Driving License). But now the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made the process of issuance of International Driving Permit (IDP) uniform across the country in accordance with the International Road Traffic Convention 1949.

DL will be linked through QR code

A QR code has also been provided to link the International Driving Permit with the driving licence, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a notification on Monday. Due to this Indian citizens will not face any problem in other countries. As per the notification issued on August 26, the format, size, color etc. of IDP will now be uniform across the country. It has been made uniform as per the Geneva Convention. A helpline number and e-mail ID have also been made available in this regard. An International Driving License is a mandate that allows you to own or drive a vehicle in a foreign country. It is still possible to drive any vehicle without a valid driving license and it is important to get your driving license in India. There were also punishments for answering the rules.
